Left Behind and the Translation of God Renegade Cut

Many thanks to ancianita for introducing me to RenegadeCut and sending me down a rabbit hole today. This is long, but he's pretty thorough, so enjoy.

You'll know where he's at within the first 15 seconds. I give him props for both reading LaHaye's wretched book and suffering through uthe wretched movies that followed it. Both were beyond me. I didn't find them ignorant enough to be funny. They were just bad.

1. I read the first few books of the Left Behind series

The writing just kept getting worse and worse with each book so I think I stopped at number 5 then got bored with it. There are 16 books in the series.

At first it was like a cool fantasy, science fiction kind of read. But then it kept increasing in religious sermonizing.

I kinda liked the depiction of the Antichrist. He was a nasty SOB with magical powers of persuasion. The protagonists got to be too stupid and sanctimonious and I actually started cheering against them.

Never saw the movie and now I'm glad I didn't.

2. If you want a really good religious scifi/postapocalyptic book, try

It's not easy reading, it's stick to your ribs reading. Some of it will get you laughing, some will make you want to cry, and it's got a lot to say about theocracy. There is next to no preaching. It's a classic of post apocalyptic fiction, which is why it's still in print.

4. OMG I read that when I was a kid

Found it in my father's stash of Scifi paperbacks.

I'll have to read it again, I don't remember it well

3. I think Jenkins got bored with the whole thing

and La Haye ended up doing most of the "writing" as time went on, trying to milk the series for all it was worth. The shitty writing seems to be a selling point for unsophisticated people.
