Atheists & Agnostics
Related: About this forumI guess it's progress that the media are taking Christian nationalists to task for the R's horrible
policies, like striking down the abortion pill. At least the media is now able to point out that it is religion - and a specific religion - that sits at the center of the Dobbs decision etc, not some extreme form of conservatism.
But isnt it really all Christians who bear responsibility? I dont see the major sects coming out and condemning such actions. I dont see parishioners fleeing the pews. No, for the most part, they bow their heads, shuffle their feet and mumble in tacit agreement.
Religion poisons everything. Thus spake Hitchens years ago. Thats just as true today as it was then.

(2,849 posts)DOC, UCC, etc. have stood up for women and LGBTQ+ in the light of these fascists masquerading as Christian. Mainline protestant groups...
Catholic, Southern Baptist, the wings of Methodist fueled by hate and the mega churches, which are generally really southern Baptist without formal ties to the national hierarchy are for this.
Given all the cover ups of child molestation, I wish some prosecutor had the guts to actually go after these institutions and their leaders for RICO...pipe dream of course. No one dare go after the RCC.
