Well, he said "god is in total control of our lives," which suggests that God did it. God wanted all those people shot. And so they got shot. And God is real. And prayers work. And anyone who says otherwise is not a true believer. Not a REAL Christian! (Some of that is mine)

(21,320 posts)but then think of it like this:
Gawd has sent us a plague. A plague kinda like those set upon the Egyptians.
But instead of toads or boils or locusts
its gun deaths.
And all YOU gotta do to end the plague is listen to what YOUR gawd told YOU to do
turn your swords into plowshares.
So, stop killing us. Do what YOUR gawd told you to do.
Fuckin idiots.

(1,531 posts)Assuming there is a supreme being or eternal essence that created and controls everything, I can't rationalize why such an entity would be concerned with some thought or prayer from a mere mortal on this small blue marble in the universe that we call earth. Evil and murder have existed since recorded history began in spite of millions upon millions of "prayers".

(96,043 posts)Not in the 'God's in absolute control so of course he saw to these people dying, trust his plan' swill this moral cretin spews, but by observing that there is far more profession of Christianity, and more church attendance, in the United States than in other prosperous democracies, which somehow manage nonetheless not to cook off in massacre by privately owned firearm on a daily basis.

(9,665 posts)I would suggest that anyone who is a white supremacist has a mental illness. Abbott and the other rotten GOP pols in Texas kept saying "mental illness" in reference to the Allen shooter, and so what came first? The mental illness or the white supremacy?
Randi Rhodes took it a step further today: anyone who votes for the GOP has a mental illness.

Now, tell me how God is Pro-Life?
