(4,674 posts)and who is in office. When HRC was running it was almost non-stop hit pieces, while the fact that Trump was under active investigation by the FBI for ties to Russia didn't warrant coverage until AFTER he was elected. Also, if memory serves, the NYT was an uncritical cheerleader for the Iraq war.

(884 posts)I've read it, and nowhere do I see any such flights of journalistic fancy. I see reporting on a government program, the spending for which appeared in a Senate report. Overall, I see sane, responsible reporting.
And coincidentally, the criticism of the NYT on the basis of that the fact that Trump was under FBI investigation for his ties to Russia didn't warrant coverage until after Trump was elected is glaringly misplaced.
The legitimate outrage is that this fact was not known until after the election, but that's a valid criticism of the FBI for having kept secret the Trump investigation while disclosing the reopening of the Clinton probe, not of the NYT for not reporting something that was not yet known.
By all means, let's hold media outlets responsible, but let's do so responsibly.
