I had the sweetest dream

My mom, who passed last month, was famous for making sure we all had our favorite pie for the holidays. No small feat with a large family. And she always worked from scratch. My oldest sister always wanted banana cream pie, and of course that meant that there was no boxed pudding mix for the filling.

My mom never got it right. She just couldn't get the filling to set.

Last night I dreamed that my mother was with her mother (who passed away in 1979)--in the kitchen, making that banana cream pie. Memere was showing mom how it was done. And they were having a great time together.

I miss you, Mom.

Please don't give up having pie on your birthday. It is a special memory.

We would eat them with spoons.

But heavens, they were tasty!
