Bereavement
Related: About this forumMom's obituary
I started writing it a few weeks ago, when it was clear that she wasn't going to be with us much longer. I thought about some of the things by which I wanted people to remember her. I mentioned some of these things during my last conversations with her last week; I wanted her to know the impact she had.
I didn't just want people to know that she died - I wanted people to know that she lived.

(26,842 posts)Your mom and I were born the same year, so I can very much identify with her.
And I'm old enough now that I read the obits in my local paper faithfully. A week ago I saw that someone I used to work with at the local hospital died. She and I weren't close, and I hadn't seen her for a decade, but she was likewise my age and so it struck home.

At least I learned the importance of being patient!

(35,249 posts)it had me thinking back to when i was a kid--seems my mom and older relatives all did that, and i guess i do something very similar.
