Bereavement
Related: About this forumMy first Mother's Day w/o my Mom
I've already had a good cry this morning, so I guess what's left is to honor her.
I'll turn to baking. She could bake anything.
Sour cream coffee cake.
Miss you, Mom.

(16,903 posts)My daughter kept her powder puff in a baggie, and once a year on her grandmas birthday, she opens and takes a whiff.

(24,343 posts)Made me so sad but also reminded me of how wonderful and beautiful she was - a true angel who is very mourned.

(93,444 posts)I had a different kind of relationship with mine but it still feels odd. I have sisters who are moms so I'll celebrate with them.

(7,529 posts)My sisters have kids, I celebrate them. Even though our relationship was somewhat challenging, I wish my mom was here. I miss her.

(8,513 posts)My mom died on Mother's Day, technically. It was just after midnight, May 8th, 2005.
I had gotten her a flower arrangement the day before, and decided to give them to her early. She went on and on about how beautiful they were, and told me, "You always give me the nicest flowers." I'm glad I didn't wait until the next day.
It seems like forever ago, and also like just a minute ago.
Hugs to all who have lost their moms.

(42,862 posts)... it still stings. And as I get older and older, it's shocking (and comforting?) to see my mother's face looking back at me in the mirror. She was my rock during the most difficult years. I miss our conversations and the family stories.
Thanks for posting this, MissMillie.

(171,684 posts)a card store to get a card for my m-i-l for Mothers Day and realizing I couldn't do the same for mine. I lost it; eyes just started swimming. She's been gone 30 years and I still wish I could buy her that card, think about it every year. Coffee cake sounds good.

(7,271 posts)I had her Mother's Day card ready to drop in the mail (I live about 1,000 miles away) when I got the news. I had it sent overnight so it could be cremated with her.
Sending hugs...
