"You can't carry the weight for both of you"

I'm reading "We Begin at the End" and this line struck me:

"You were cursed with pathological honestly. You carry weight you don't even see."

My friend died Dec. 29. We had a dumb argument and had not seen each other. I have been wracked with grief and guilt. No way to make things right. My Pastor told me that I cannot carry the weight for both of us. That's probably why that line stood out to me today.

But we don't know how much time we have to make things right, or if we'll change our outlook and overlook the past. Unless somebody is inhuman, we all have regrets. In my life, I've reflected on incidents I remembered, with thoughts that occurred over and over. Sometimes, I gained insight about the incidents, and when I did, the incidents and memories faded from my mind. You have a lot of pain because you lost your friend before the fences were mended. Maybe sometime, you'll see a way to understand why you fought, and why your friendship ended with an argument.

forgiveness from anyone I may have wronged. It always makes me feel better when I have those "I wish I had or I should have or I could have" thoughts as they pertain to people no longer living or those I have lost contact with.
