I have an appreciation for irony and I have to point out the irony in a group named "Loners". Humans are unique enigmas.

(90,061 posts)Went to some trouble to find a place where I would not be disturbed by well-meaning people.
It was very refreshing and got me settled back down again. Very necessary sometimes. But people will think it's weird. "Why aren't you doing anything?" But of course, I am doing something.
Loner is a relative term, I think, it doesn't necessarily mean you want to have no people at all in your life, just less, sometimes.

(18,577 posts)There's this joke about engineers:
Three men, a lawyer, an artist and an engineer, were asked if they would prefer to have a wife or a mistress.
The lawyer answered: "A wife. If had a supportive and understanding wife, I could raise a family and become a pillar of the community."
The artist answered: "A mistress. Such a relationship maintains a spontaneous nature and would feed my creativity."
The engineer answered: "Both. In my absence they would each assume I was with the other and I could some work done."
