This is a nice quiet day for me- staying in and binge watching some TV. Also checking in on DU from time to time.

My big plans are cooking for tonite, and then doing some laundry and cleaning tomorrow and Monday. I always feel better and more organized with ready made food, clean linens and clothes, and a clean apt. Which is a good way to start the New Year.

Best of all my baby girl, Callie Lu is doing "lap duty" and keeping me company.

I will be very happy if everything stays peaceful in the neighborhood.

Been in the plans for years. The stars are aligned now.
Get to pass on my union benefits and she keeps saving my life with her RN skills. I knew her husband before he passed away. He had cancer for a long time. Kept pushing us to hang out.

I'm a little nervous as it's my 1st NYE alone in my 42 years of marriage! Husband had to go be with his 95 year old mom.

His presence brought her SO MUCH joy! So I don't mind at all! Esp. being, well, a loner, essentially.

Funny cuz when our kid was little we would have huge parties here on NYE! Sledding, bonfire, food. I did love it but a lot of pressure!

HAPPY NEW YEAR loners everywhere! May the new year bring you as much silence, peace, steadiness, as fills your soul!

Look for a better 2023. If all those "friends and family" don't exactly venture "over the river and through the woods" to visit you, be assured that it's just their own DAMN COUCH POTATO LAZINESS at work.

You're made of fine stuff. Just under-advertised. Stay healthy. Stay in shape. Keep your mind sharp and put on classical music if you can find some (it's on the internet. Good for the mind and the soul.)

28. We just got back from a walk and are settling in for the night, c4p.

Can't decide to crack open a frosty, watch a movie or try learning a couple of reels I just came across — one of which is appropriately named for a resolution night like this — "The Broken Pledge".

More and more, our kids are giving me shit for laying low on party nights. I say "have at it, been there and done it."

I'm listening to a Dead New Years Eve show from '72 loud as fuck as a sonic shield against the boom boom neighbors. Years ago, I would have complimented the music with some weed or some psychedelics, but now it's just some cheap vodka and soda.

Most of a quart of my canned tomatoes in fridge and flour in pantry gathered with other foods to become a pizza. Several neighbors fireworks helped me not sleep through the magic moment.

just woke up to the new year with a great breakfast for one.

36. Happy New Year! I was asleep at 9:30, so nothing to report there. Today, 1/1/23, I am going to go

take a drive and maybe find a breakfast place that isn't too busy. Later on will walk the dog then watch some football. Baking a small ham with collards and black eyed peas. Probably have a couple glasses of wine later. Chill out with doggie and kitty. I hope you and the other DUers enjoy your day.
