100-mph winds damage homes in Springfield

Straight-line winds damaged homes and uprooted trees in Springfield, according to the National Weather Service.

Early Monday, winds between 100 to 110 mph gusted through the city, meteorologist Brad Temeyer said.

Multiple homes on the south side of town had damage to roofs, walls and siding. Widespread tree damage was reported, Temeyer said.

Terrain in the area varies and houses on top of the hill received more damage than those tucked in the valley, he said.
