Stacey Burnette named South Dakota Democratic Party executive director
Stacey Burnette will lead the South Dakota Democratic Party as its new executive director, the party announced on Monday.
Burnette will begin working for the SDDP this month, where she'll work with SDDP Chair Paula Hawks and Vice Chair Randy Seiler to "restore the SDDP to its historical position as the preferred choice for voters in communities throughout our state," the SDDP announced on Monday.
The last decade has been "tough" for the SDDP despite the state's history of supporting Democratic candidates, Burnette said in a statement. She added that they're looking forward to getting to work for farmers and ranches and work on ensuring access to health care, demanding that all residents are free from bigotry and providing a strong education for children.
"It's our mission to reintroduce the SDDP as a viable option to balance out the one-party rule that left voters shaking their heads at politicians in Pierre and Washington," she said. "We'll make the case that South Dakotans are best served when legislators are focused on fighting for issues that matter to all of us."
