Right Livelihood

Well, I think I have found a way out of the corporate world and into a right livelihood position. This means a lot to me. It will be a significant cut in pay, but I'll be able to advocate for GLBTQ elderly persons in nursing/group homes. So many elderly GLBTQ people have either no family, family that has shunned them, and/or no support system. Many feel the need to go back in the closet to be a part of these communities. It's a terrible price to pay for these people, and the nursing homes have no clue. I hope to have the opportunity to make a small difference.

5. I think Right Livelihood is one of the most profound Buddhist concepts

and it's a shame that it's frequently overlooked. In a proper occupation you can practice "wisdom is compassion" each working day. I think the traditional list ranking jobs has held pretty true over the centuries.

public service/civil service field and am glad I did.

This is Channel 7 in Tyler, Texas. The weatherman is Mark Scirto. They run a promo for him where he says, "It's a privilege to help the people of East Texas by providing them with weather information."

This guy really is doing right livelihood.
