on declining birth rates, Japan is a series of islands.

Won't it run out of room for residents to live if they have overpopulation?

But it's difficult to attract young people to such areas because they are pretty boring and don't have a lot of attractive jobs. On top of that, a lot of those areas are either in cold areas, or in isolated areas, or are subject to more than their share of natural disasters

Governments are going to have to start planning for this 30 year correction of an imbalance of young vs. old until equilibrium is reached. Painful, but necessary for the human species not to overextend themselves into oblivion.

Less human population is the only thing that is going to reverse the trajectory we are on with resource depletion, declines of wildlife species, excessive pollution, and GHG emissions. Mo’ people might bring more economic activity but the amount of Mo’ problems that come with it all is Mo’ harm than good..
