Painter of the Wind - Line of Vision

바람의 화원-- 눈 길

This is a song from the 2008 drama Painter of the Wind. The award winning drama was drawn from a historical novel of the same name. The plot revolves around the famous painter Shin Yun-bok from the 18th Century. Unfortunately, the 20 episode series is behind a paywall at Rakuten Viki. Supposedly, Amazon's streaming service has it.

The Wikipedia write up on Painter of the Wind is worth a view. It has a remarkable section (8) with paintings from the drama that are associated with each of the 20 episodes. if you are interested, I recommend the wikipedia collection of pictures and the drama. See the section titled Featured Paintings.

Kim Hong-do, another important Korean court painter, is a main character as Yun-bok's teacher in the drama. if you are interested, I have some pictures by Kim Hong-do posted over at the world history group.

In the drama, Shin Yun-bok is portrayed as a young woman posing as a male art student . There is no evidence that this is true. Family genealogy records indicate Yun-bok was male. It is believed that rumors or the myth of Yun-bok possibly being female arose from his refined or delicate painting style and a unique insight into the female perspective displayed in his art work.
