New online tool can help report anti-Asian incidents better, allows reporting in 29 languages

Despite increased awareness of the rise of hate crimes against Asian Americans, targeted attacks against members of the Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) community continue to surge. Each month, new reports indicate hate crimes are occurring at alarming rates.

These reports follow a discrepancy between agencies receiving fewer hate crime incident reports at a time when we’re seeing the highest number of hate crimes in more than 12 years. Many believe that lack of language access contributes to the reluctance in reporting hate crimes. To better address the increased number of crimes occurring against the AAPI community, the National Asian Pacific Center on Aging (NAPCA), an advocacy group, released an online reporting tool to allow people to report incidents of violence or harassment in 29 languages.
