Jesse Jackson would have been on the list if I had more slots. Sorry if I missed someone very special to you but DU only allows for 9 choices.

(1,065 posts)Wish I paid attention sooner. I never even cared about politics before.
Now I passionately want to get rid of the cesspool of corruption that invades our Democracy, distorting it to an oligarchy.

(25,699 posts)1) It was Dean's campaign that got me interested in Politics at all. In hind sight, sure, he wasn't that impressive, but 2003-04 was a season of "take damn near anything" and he gave more than just a grasped straw.
2) Barack Obama was someone I was behind all the way, a candidate who made me say "fuck yeah!" all the way to the white hosue. I was a little late on him - I switched form supporting Edwards in January that year - but damn, it was worth it.
3) Bernie's got my heart and energy now. I see him as who needs to follow after Obama, someone who will keep that ball rolling. The goal is kicking our country back towards the left, away from the Tea Party precipice it's been dragged to, and Bernie's thebest motherfucker for the job.
So it's one of those three, and I can't pick just one, so I've gotta abstain.

(80,708 posts)Gore represented such an important counterpoint to the entire gestalt of Bush and Cheney, and he did more to raise the profile of climate change than anyone else ever has; and really, that's one problem which makes all our other problems potentially meaningless.
But at the same time, probably nothing can compare with the excitement and hope Obama brought with him in 2008, although I would say Bill Clinton in 1992 was a similar experience.

(96,882 posts)...I learned long ago that becoming emotionally invested can blind you to reality.
I simply pick the best candidate for the position.

Was the first candidate I really, really liked. He was the last candidate I gave money to. Can't say I agree with all of his recent decisions but I loved him in 2004. He's how I found DU in 2003. Lurked for awhile and thrn joined in Jan. 2004.
I like Bernie a lot but I feel I was more passionate about Dean.

(7,321 posts)But Bernie surpasses both, well it's easy to surpass Edwards given his insane affair during the campaign.. I tossed him in the shitcan then and regret my monthly donations to his campaign. Kucinich was great and it was sad how he was treated in the media.
But no one has come close to Bernie full stop, we're not likely to see another like him..
it will be history of significance in the making if we can manage to pull off a victory as steep a hill as it is and against all odds.

(110,159 posts)day feel we missed out on a very good President. I know a lot of people did not like him. He wasn't way out there in exciting. But their was a quiet noble I really valued that I would have liked to see have the opportunity to be president in a really important time.
Mostly, I am like another poster here. People we hire.

(10,650 posts)He's the only strong New Deal Democrat we've seen in a long time. It is amazing to have an actual progressive, who is sincere about helping the poor and working class, in the race. He proudly states his progressive stance.
Most of the others I've supported, but a part of that support was just that their republican opponent was so bad.

(5,737 posts)MTV did that during the Gun's n Roses love fest. Gun's n Roses was voted the best rock band ever. Really? Best ever? Same applies here with this question.
