2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumI would like to dedicate the 2016 election of Hillary Clinton to BartCop.
If it weren't for BartCop's website I never would have found Democratic Underground.
Back during the disastrous bush* years BartCop helped me keep my sanity by laughing at the downright lunacy of the republicans. He was a diehard supporter of the Clintons (both Hillary and Bill) even when some Democrats were running them down. Every now and then during this election cycle I find myself wanting to log on to his website because I know that he would be absolutely over the moon about Hillary's nomination.
Cheers, BartCop! I wish you were around to see how well Hillary is running her campaign. You would be proud!

(20,016 posts)I found DU in the links.
Miss him. He would have flipped ... from a chimp to a maggot.
It was also my first computer and Bartcop got me through those disastrous Bush years. Now DU is helping me survive an even more disastrous year.

(7,570 posts)I also made his "Train Station Chicken" once, and it was unbelievably good.
It really says something that no one's been able to fill that gap since he left us. His combination of outrage, humor, and wisdom were unparalleled, and he delivered it in full four days a week.

(47,921 posts)We were in a Yahoo group run by a former Congressman's HQ manager
Weekly and often nightly chats during election 2000
Back then we used chain emails to help GOTV
and whatever else the early internet provided - new message boards,
discussion, even the personals
The group is still active, shame that Yahoo deletes the archives after
about 5 years on a rolling basis, with no way to backup or download
Bartcop was alt news in its day, other sites included BushWatch,
Democrats.com, BearLeft, CLG.org, and even sites with no name
that remain active today such as http://news4florida.tripod.com/index1.html

(4,840 posts)When I had a lonely-ass website on the daily show that received very little traffic. One day I check my stats and see that I'm getting thousands of hits.
I check to see where it all was coming from and it was from this website I never heard of before.
Bartcop had linked to my site in one of his issues.
