A federal judge on Saturday blocked Florida Governor Rick Scotts attempt to throw out tens of thousands of mail-in ballots, then publicly reprimanded him, several news outlets reported. U.S. District Judge Mark Walker issued a blistering caution to Scotts top election official on a lawsuit about vote-by-mail ballots.
According to ABC News, the judge accused Governor Scott appointed Secretary of State Ken Detzner of delaying a hearing on the lawsuit, so that he could use every second available to run out the clock, . That means, there would not be enough time to address the lawsuit. Then, Judge Walker said the governors man, Detzner, was in effect committing an undeclared war on Florida voters rights.
Floridas Democratic Party filed a lawsuit asserting that thousands of vote-by-mail ballots were rejected each election, because the voters ballot envelope and the registration file signatures do not match. Without a signature, Florida law says that a vote-by-mail ballot cannot be counted.

(479 posts)A staffer for Donald Trumps campaign in Michigan which Trump narrowly won by just over 10,000 votes was found guilty of election fraud.
It took less than an hour for a jury to convict Brandon Michael Hall on 10 counts of election law fraud, following a day-and-a-half trial in Ottawa County Circuit Court in Michigan, the Grand Haven Tribune reported.
The 27-year-old Grand Haven resident showed only a little emotion and quickly composed himself as the jury foreman announced the verdict.
Susan Demas, publisher of Inside Michigan Politics, broke the news on Twitter Wednesday afternoon:

(20,868 posts)...I registered to vote over 30 years ago. I call tell you my signature has changed 2 or 3 times since then.
IMHO, this is just further voter suppression. Very sad.
Florida needs to be recounted. They closed their books too quickly for me - I suspect to cover up something.

(21,830 posts)Fuck these deadlines!
I'd rather live in a functioning democracy than some oligarchic fascist state just so we could be on time with these arbitrary deadlines to turn in election results.
What good are the results if they are lies?

Yesterday a federally registered nonprofit election entity launched a fundraiser to cover the court costs of a lawsuit it intended to file in the name of forcing a statewide recount in the narrowly decided state of Florida. The attorney fees were fully crowdfunded within a matter of hours. And today the attorney in question announced that he has officially filed the lawsuit in question, creating at least some possibility that a Florida recount may happen.

(479 posts)TALLAHASSEE Three central Florida voters are mounting an unlikely bid to overturn the presidential election result in the Sunshine State.
In a lawsuit filed Monday in Leon Circuit Court, they assert that Hillary Clinton, not Donald Trump, actually won Florida. The plaintiffs, who live in Osceola and Volusia counties, say the states official election results were off because of hacking, malfunctioning voting machines and other problems.
They're asking for a hand recount of every paper ballot in Florida, at the expense of defendants including Trump, Gov. Rick Scott and the 29 Republican presidential electors from Florida.
