2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumDon't forget who else openly consorted with Putin and Michael Flynn:
Jill Stein, last winter, at an RT celebration in Russia.
And the votes that went to her could have swung the election.
Between Comey, and Stein, voter suppression, and the rigged Electoral College, DT turned his 2.8 million vote loss into a win.

(22,651 posts)I bet Stein feels "used" today,(and Johnson) They were used as simply an opportunity for Republicans to take away Hillary votes. About 1%-2% would swing vote- most republicans planned to vote straight R no matter who the president was.
Remember when she spray painted the bulldozer with the pipeline protesters? That made constant headlines in swing states. Ad campaigns easily added the 1% of votes Republicans needed.

As another refresher, also note that Michael Flynn is at the same table.
Flynn, Stein, and Putin not just at the same RT dinner, but at the same table.
As they say in real estate: it's location, location, location.

(9,688 posts)Good friends, one of them a friend of many decades.
They are more or less traditional lefties - so no surprise (although disappointment on my part) that they were Stein supporters in November. But what was initially surprising for me is that both seem to use RT as their primary news source, and defend Putin to the hilt, which I find completely bizarre, especially since they are strict pacifists. How can their pacifism sit with their defense of Putin's behavior in Syria and Ukraine, and his murder of journalists and political opponents at home?
And then to have a far right contingent of Trump voters, with the same Putin-loving-RT-reading axis.
this is less surprising to me because Putin and Trump are so similar in my mind.
And I've seen before how the political spectrum can bend, so that far-right and far-left ends meet each other. This seems to be one of those times.
Very strange times.
