2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumI believe Trump will be impeached for treason
And hopefully his band of blabbering idiots will all be charged with Misprision of Treason. If you commit Treason against the United States you are BANNED from ever holding public office. The links below show examples of giving aid and comfort to enemies.

18 U.S. Code § 2381 - Treason

18 U.S. Code § 2382 - Misprision of treason

(2,056 posts)The U.S. Constitution provides impeachment as the method for removing the president, vice president, federal judges, and other federal officials from office. The impeachment process begins in the House of Representatives and follows these steps:
1. The House Judiciary Committee holds hearings and, if necessary, prepares articles of impeachment. These are the charges against the official.
2. If a majority of the committee votes to approve the articles, the whole House debates and votes on them.
3. If a majority of the House votes to impeach the official on any article, then the official must then stand trial in the Senate.
4. For the official to be removed from office, two-thirds of the Senate must vote to convict the official. Upon conviction, the official is automatically removed from office and, if the Senate so decides, may be forbidden from holding governmental office again.
House Judiciary Committee Members: https://judiciary.house.gov/committee-members/ (Would only need 4 Republicans to vote to approve article of impeachment from this list.)
It would require 24 House Republicans or Independents to vote to impeach.
It would require 3 Senate Republicans or Independents to convict.

(33,424 posts)Assuming all Senate Democrats and Indies voted to convict.

(2,056 posts)The GOP lost 2 seats. I'm admittedly not familiar about how many more voters are needed to convict above and beyond having more votes.

(44,662 posts)That's 67. As of 2017, the Repubs will have 52 Senators, the Democrats have (including two independents) 48.

(30,288 posts)I wonder if that gets around the two witness thing in the Constitution?
Putin has these guys by the short hairs. One phone call, one Press Conference in Russia and a bunch of them go down.

(26,695 posts)Impeachment is a political process. Repigs are licking their chops because all their dreams can come true for them and their donors.
Trump could strangle a baby live on tv and we would get lessons how that's not as bad as getting a blow job in the Oval Office.

(7,596 posts)He's not even really a Republican, just a clown who humiliated all their up-and-coming "stars". I have no doubt they'd like to get rid of him so a complete party puppet like Pence can become president.

(2,056 posts)And plenty of veterans who have got to be completely beside themselves at Trump's appointments and his denial of what the CIA has said is fact.

(11,936 posts)I totally agree with your point, but I think Trump is safe on those grounds. We all know better. But it is what it is. However, I think more is about to come out that might change that. Trump is fucking with the CIA and he WILL get his ass kicked.
