2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumDo NOT let them frame the fucking narrative.
Russia did this. Trump was their puppet.
Had Russia not done this, HRC would be in transition right now.
NO. Bernie could not have stopped this. They just would have fixed it a different way.
The KGB/GOP orchestrated this, and DU was taken down for a reason. Now they're here being third wayers.
Don't let those motherfuckers get away with it.
Let it sink.

Oh there's no :"PROOF" ...
they didn't say it was actually "stolen"..an" intelligence 911 " way to harsh to say that.
Those were the "news casters..

(71,831 posts)trolls rarely get under my skin, but suggesting that the electors could act, but would somehow be compelled to choose a compromise candidate rather than award it to the winner. saw one pushing paul ryan.

Trump abruptly stops campaigning in all swing states? He's in daily contact with them?
Get the fuck out of here.
They did it

(71,831 posts)just like w got a surprise push of "values voters".
personally think the 5 a day stops to podunk were to recruit rubes for the plan. or at least to look the other way about the plan.

Had HRC done the same, the headline would read, "Why is HRC leaving her supporters in the heat?"

The Democratic Party trashing needs to stop.

(1,182 posts)Digging up and airing dirty laundry is something that campaigns have had to face forever. If her campaign was actually sunk by that, her campaign was sunk anyway.
Bernie totally could have stopped it, now that you mention it. He ran a good campaign and up against an idiot like Trump he could have drawn one hell of a contrast.

(54,795 posts)The candidate you insist was so weak.
You really don't understand the severity of this. You're so fixated on the politics of personality you haven't grasped what Russian interference means to national security, the integrity of the electoral process and our democracy. McConnell and Ryan aren't holding hearings because they are heartbroken that Hillary lost.

(1,182 posts)Do tell, because I was told again and again throughout the primaries that political parties can get away with being biased against their own candidates and discard voters because they're private entities and not the government itself. Well, Russia taking advantage of a private entity's poor network security and system administration (remember the Uretsky thing?) was never a big deal before.
But now, all of a sudden, the same people selling us that line about private entities have changed their tune in a drastic way. This is national security! Forgive me if I expect a smidgen more explanation for that 180 than some insulting language from the usual clique.
By what standard is this a national security breech? Because it embarrassed our candidate? We had plenty of foreign leaders endorsing candidates all election season and in seasons past. No complaints about that. We had plenty of opinions out of foreign news outlets. No complaints about that.
So have at it; tell me what the standard is. Because it sure does look like "I don't want to eat crow" is the only standard being applied by the party right now.

(59,944 posts)An easier case to be made is that the Comey letters did -- and even that can not be actually proven. Consider what the wikileaks contained and ask yourself if anyone on the fence would have been persuaded to vote for Trump rather than Clinton because of it.
The worst leaks were the DNC leaks. There the impact was that several top people were kicked out and it could be seen that the DNC was in the tank for HRC. On the latter, I doubt that came as a surprise to anyone -- it was pretty obvious. Were the people kicked out more capable than their replacements? Would the campaign strategy been different?
I would suggest that the reason she lost WI was due to voter suppression -- because of the need for ids that were hard for some to get. There was also voter suppression in North Carolina and a few other states. Why am I risking the anger of some questioning that it was the hacking, because VOTER SUPPRESSION was the reason that we also lost 2000 and 2004. Even with the ballot problems in both 2000 FL and 2004 OH, without the felons list and the actions to limit the vote of Haitian Americans in FL or the inadequate number of machines in OH -- Gore and Kerry would have won. This is an ongoing problem and democracy requires that we fix it. We should have done so when we had more power.

It sounds like we want retaliation, and I don't think that will end well.
