(15,543 posts)Screw that treasonous shit. Republicans should just pack up and move to Mother Russia since they have all Assumed the Position for the freaking Evil Empire.

(1,074 posts)Yeah..rethugs are always saying to us "if you don't like this country or if you don't like the outcome of this election, why don't you leave the country!" Well, if they don't like this country, and want to be pals with Russia, why don't they just move to Russia??!! This country would be so much better without them! In fact, I would love to see the even greater potential of this country without them here!!

(107 posts)Russ Feingold lost his race to Johnson and said they might as well do a recount of that race while they are recounting the presidential ballots in Wisconsin.

(16,230 posts)But I have no idea what could be done. If we rerun the elections (something for which there is no legal basis that I can see) the damaging info is still out there so the result might not even change.
I am so angry about this!

(64,414 posts)From the article:
I can hear the arguments now, that Wikileaks was merely the messenger and little else, to which I call bullsh*t. Without the fruit of the poisoned tree, Wikileaks wasn't a player. Assange reveled in the attention, with little care as to what his partnership with Russian hackers might do to American politics.
And as we know now, it's done grave harm. Whether you view that harm as simply destabilizing our political process or electing a failed reality show host as President, it has done deep, lasting harm to our democracy and to our standing around the world.
Only one country benefits from that, and it isn't us.
Now. Either our ruling party -- aka Republicans -- are going to behave like Americans and admit that they enjoy the benefit of foreign interference in our elections, or they're not. If they don't, then they are intentionally aiding and abetting foreign aggression against American democracy.

(24,128 posts)The N.R.C.C.s use of documents stolen by the Russians plays right into the hands of one of the United States most dangerous adversaries, Mr. Lujáns Aug. 29 letter said. Put simply, if this action continues, the N.R.C.C. will be complicit in aiding the Russian government in its effort to influence American elections.

(56,840 posts)that out of this election, we get a national standard for voting and a firm requirement that all presidential candidates must release their tax returns before their party's convention, as well as financial statements and put their businesses in a blind trust or divest from them. Right now, it's just a suggestion that every candidate has followed until Trump.
I'm also paranoid enough at times to think it would not have been that hard for some persons working on behalf of Russia to go around to a lot of these rural voting precincts and slip a few thousand dollars to the people there to enter in some extra votes for Trump.

(1,089 posts)But if the public is starting to see all of this information, why isn't President Obama tearing the walls of the White House down figuring out what happened and exposing it? Is he already doing that behind the scenes? Is there a bombshell that's about to be pushed out there soon? Is this overblown and there really isn't much to worry about? It's confusing that he's been so silent on this. If he really cares about his legacy, I'd assume he wouldn't want the end of it to be that the Russians took over our democracy.
The only theory I can pull out of thin air - and it's probably rubbish - is that he's working behind the scenes to try to get some repukes on board with what needs to be done. If one of his final acts is to - at least based on public perception - try to invalidate the election of the scumbag who succeeds him his legacy would be tarnished badly.
It's quite confusing to me in that respect.

(3,251 posts)They figure just sit back and let the shit hit the fan.
That way they will be well-position to make gains in the House and Senate in 2018.
That is the only explanation I have as to why they aren't doing much.
It's all strategy.

(3,251 posts)It's just that the rope-a-dope strategy may not work here without extreme damage done to the country by Trump, et al.

(1,089 posts)But even a cursory review of history reveals that fascists don't easily give up power once they grab it. I'm not sure Donny and the Russians would be so willing to just allow the process to play out if 2018 elections prove to be a wipeout for the good guys.
