Poll: Republicans warm up to Putin, Wikileaks

Republican voters have apparently warmed to Russia, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and WikiLeaks in the wake of the 2016 presidential election, according to data from a new YouGov/Economist poll. President-elect Donald Trump's electoral win was followed by a dramatic spike in favorability for Putin by GOP participants in the poll. Democratic participants, meanwhile, now disapprove of him more than they did before November 8. In July 2014, Republicans viewed Putin with a -66 net favorability; and now, in December 2016, they view him with only a -10 negative favorability.

... I went to the poll itself and it said the following:

Do you have a favorable or unfavorable opinion of Putin?
Republicans
Very favorable ............... 5%
Somewhat favorable ...... 32%
Somewhat unfavorable ... 33%
Very unfavorable ........... 14%
Don't know.....................16%

That's not exactly love there and is probably at its peak as Hillary and Obama are fading into the background and into the past and the honeymoon period ends. Aside from Facebook, I have yet to see anybody that's absolutely devoted to Trump ... even politicians that are up for positions in his cabinet are somewhat ambiguous given it'd be a step up.

... but if they're still underwater at this point, I can't see them getting higher. We might be seeing the limits of Trump's personality cult, which he is going to have to find a new Satan for soon.

I could see a scenario where Putin's popularity among Republicans is directly tied to Trump's popularity with Republican voters. They like Putin because Trump likes Putin and they perceive Putin as being an enemy of Hillary Clinton. If they stop liking Trump, my guess is increased dislike of Putin will follow. Either way Saint Ronnie is rolling over in his grave right now.

themselves to forfeit all that was gained. Republicans do not have any true convictions beyond winning elections.
