2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumThere are at least two women who i hope run in 2020 primaries
Kirsten Gillibrand and Kamala Harris.
I know that Amy Klobuchar is relatively conservative, but I hope she runs too.
And of course Tammy Duckworth.
Well I guess that's 4 women.
(i didn't say liz warren, because i suspect she will be too old. I could be wrong.)

Warren will be just past 71 which these days is still a good fighting age.
My spidey sense says she will be the front runner and will be interested.
If Warren is in I am supporting her.

(53,866 posts)I think 71 is way too old for first time run

(63,180 posts)I have actually been trying to think of a man that Dems might run. Right now all I see is O'Malley. Maybe I am missing something, but I don't see real leadership on the male side.
Opposing Trump should allow some real leaders - male or female - to really emerge.

I agree that he would make a very good president.
Cuomo has already said he is not running.

(26,942 posts)if she keeps it up, I think her age will just be some irrelevant number getting tossed around. At least I hope that we can get beyond seeing an individual as simply a number, gender, or color.

(32,967 posts)Hell, the way things are going, I question whether we'll even get a legitimate 2018 mid-terms, let alone anything in 2020. If we do, any of those women would be good, especially Tammy and Kamala.

(841 posts)Trump is 70 and Clinton is 69. Some people are still pretty strong into their 70s. I really like Warren and she is probably my favorite for 2020 if she wants to run.

(68,868 posts)On the one hand I'd like to see Gillibrand run and Cuomo not run.
On the other hand, as a NYer, I want to keep Gillibrand but get rid of Cuomo ASAP.

(2,064 posts)I know Rhode Island is a small state, but Governors have the advantage of bringing experience as a chief executive in government with them, which is essentially what we are voting for in a POTUS.
Is she too conservative, or too young, or am I missing something?
La Lioness Priyanka
(53,866 posts)def not a slight at her.
i was just listing the women i do know about who are fit for office

(2,064 posts)Doesn't tell me a whole lot, but I'm not a fan of the venture capital background. As far as the public employee pension reform goes, I'd have to learn more about it. On the surface it's troubling, but I don't know the whole story.

She is certainly from a younger generation of Democratic leaders, which is vital to the party's long-term health. And we don't have a ton of governors to choose from right now. That's something the next DNC chair needs to place a high priority on. We are getting our asses kicked at the state level in far too many places.
