We can still make a nice bone broth and for those inclined the marrow is still there...
It's time for postmortum to go. It's nothing but teeth gnashing about what Hillary should or shouldn't have done, how Bernie would have had a better chance and general bickering. The time for that is over and it does us no good. As Dems, and sane Indies, we need to put our game faces on and start generating ideas on how folks will survive the ensuing shit storm.

(30,481 posts)Not always going with what they say but always keeping an open mind.
You seem to think our opinions should not matter.

(21,946 posts)it like they want?

(30,481 posts)You now state our opinions matter, which I'm well aware of and stated, yet seem to have an issue with the stating our opinion.

(7,198 posts)The forum is caustic.
It is like airing your dirty laundry to the world day after day.
It is no longer doing anything productive.
It also blocks the ability to put up a Forum on 2017 special elections in NC or focusing on voter registration efforts or figuring out how to help people get right voter IDs in states where they are required.

(11,175 posts)I know about the regular state elections in New Jersey and Virginia, and local elections in New York (including Mayor of NYC). The one in North Carolina is a one-shot ordered by the court because of gerrymandering, right?
So I completely agree with having a Politics 2017 forum but I don't see how the existence of 2016 Postmortem blocks that.

(22,236 posts)There is a lot of negative infighting going on for sure, but there actually are a lot of constructive ideas coming out of that forum that could serve us well going into 2018 and 2020. Some of the posters in your other thread suggested re-naming it to something else.
edited to add: oops, someone just beat me to the punch while I was typing

(135,425 posts)I was a host for that shit-show. It devolved into a real Lord of the Flies atmosphere.
I really like a civil conversation, with parameters. DU offers that.
There are lots of places on the internet where people can get their Mean Asshole Contrarian on, to their heart's content.
It just shouldn't be here.
I always thought the admins should issue an invitation to DISCUSSIONIST to every jerk they tombstoned--that way, they keep the trade, but we don't have to smell their stink! Make it a pop-up when they click to log in: Hi, Your posting privileges have been revoked, but we invite you to continue the discussion at www.discussionist.com or whatever the URL was.

(22,236 posts)Instead of using two threads to whine about the existence of a forum, a private message would have been more appropriate.

I thought it was a good idea when it was created, but I think it may be time to let it go. Maybe Jan 1st?

(5,726 posts)the Primaries 2016. The Primary forum while always the most popular in 2004, 2008, and 2016 almost always resulted in divisive interactions between supporters of the candidates as keyboard warriors go at it. The postmortem 2016 is tame by comparison, and potentially useful.
