This thread could use a little help.

Looks like SF cops and the Church did the same thing here that they did to Atlanta OWS a while back.

We went down to Atlanta OWS headquarters a few months ago to take food and supplies. What we found impressed us.

They had set up sleeping quarters, day room, a kitchen and dinning area. OWS was providing the homeless with shelter and food during the winter months. Many who had homes and jobs came in and volunteered their time to cook for anyone who needed a meal. They were raided and the homeless were sent back to the street. I'm sick of being told that the churches will provide for the poor and than I read a story like this.

Thanks. I didn't see it earlier but I will check it out. Especially on Easter Week.

The Catholic Church has a long and proud history of purging leftists -- including homegrown leftists -- from its ranks.

I guess feeding the homeless counts as leftist in their eyes since it wasn't approved by the proper protocols.

Even if you get a local diocese that supports positive social change, the higher-ups are sure to remove that person and quash it.

I want to say this is the sort of authoritarianism that gives religion a bad name, but the truth of the matter is any other church would have done it at the request of their parishioners, or neighbors, because 53% of this country is reactionary people who refuse to imagine that they are not part of an entitled overclass.

Aka "liberation theology" ended for all practical purposes in 1978 with the MURDER of Pope John Paul THE FIRST.after being Pope for only 33 days. The forces of darkness have controlled the Vatican since then. It is an ugly, sad story.
