Related: About this forumYay, I get to cover Ron Paul on Friday
no serious, I got the short straw on that one.
Still, think about it... I will be able to confirm my theory... the man has charisma... in person.
He has to.
Of course I do not expect anything breaking like "I am running for the libertarian party." He has to think of Rand's future, and he is building a movement.
But I take it as an opportunity. And as a reporter I just well, report. But yup, that is what we do.

(154,021 posts)just take some photos and cover the rally.
They expect 6K folks, somehow I don't.. but if they do, I intend to take a crowd shot that shows it, and one that does show the contrary if that is the case.
Why I don't... the primary is mostly over.

(154,021 posts)serious.
But as much as you go Fuck Ron Paul I have been wondering... why the hell are followers that adamant? So one part of the theory is charisma.
You know leaders, and he is one, have it. So whether we agree or not (I agree with Ron on one thing, we need to get out of the wars... now how he'd implement that one, not so much)... and I mostly do not agree with Ron...

(27,739 posts)Ron Paul supporters need a coherent world-view because uncertainty scares them, and he offers them that, and so they adopt it without question. He's an ideologue and they like that approach.

(34,295 posts)I live here in his district (probably 25 or so miles from his villa in Seabrook which I wish he'd retire to already and leave us all the fuck alone). He is a twit with a view out of the 1800s. I guess he appeals to folks who yearn for a simpler life or something ... but just for fun they ought to take a look at the lunatic's voting record.

(53,661 posts)They wouldn't vote Democrat if their lives depended on doing so, they hate all liberals and progressives.
I've heard them call in to Alex Jones as he cheered their Tea Party friends passing 'personhood' laws. They are just another brand with a religious zeal, like Jones. For whom does the Apocalyptic Obama bell toll for?
Their world view. Democrats know what Ron Paul and his supporters are after since they've had a chance to elect their Teaparty to power. Tnanks, but no thanks.

(154,021 posts)on that. Been to a few rallies where people who look like chalk on board on tv have that air... and some where they are just stiff as can be when with followers and not with followers.
As I said, as a reporter I will be there to cover the news. Most likely a rally, that's it. The ONLY breaking nooz I could foresee given where we are at the campaign is if he announced some sort of alliance with Santorum to have some fun at the Convention. Aka how to advance his platform.

(1 post)He tells the truth.
He does what he says he will do.
Anyone who is familiar with his record knows that Paul will do as he claims.
When in the memory of the oldest among us has there been a politician who tells the truth as he sees it, irrespective of whether it will advance his position? What a novelty!
Those things being said, we vote for him to get our children home from the wars, or out of prison. We vote for him so WE can decide what to spend our paychecks on. We vote for him because competition in government is an essential feature of the Constitution which must not be ignored.

(20,617 posts)However, you should try and get another reporter to ask him whether or not he knows about the sooper duper secret mission to Syria that a soldier(who was killed and then not) posted on Facebook.
Or do you think he knows about this already?
Anyway, good luck and have fun!
