The L.A. Sheriff's Department staged this armored beauty just a stone's throw from Occupy L.A.'s main rally point at Pershing Square for M1GS (the May 1st General Strike).

While there are some valid uses for these kinds of tactical vehicles in crisis situations, the Homeland Security Department has been throwing far too much money at local police agencies to over-militarize and these agencies are deploying this equipment to intimidate participants in legal protests.

No Occupy movement action anywhere in the country has ever come close to the kind of crisis situation in which these tactical vehicles might justifiably be deployed. Yet they have been deployed, numerous times, at peaceful Occupy protests.

There is only one reason for police agencies to bring these veicles in for peaceful protests: Intimidation.
