Remember a couple of months ago when the Republicans said they needed to tone down the crazy?
Well, how quickly they forget. Not content with crazy, they are endorsing the scummiest the right wing has to offer. Just in time for CPAC the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC), through Rand Paul, have announced that they are co-hosting Blog Bash. BlogBash is a criminal organization, run by convicted felon Ali Akbar. Jeff Dunetz who is their spokesman is a sex predator.
They are giving awards or checks at Blog Bash to legendary pornographer, pimp, rape apologist and scam artist Lee Stranahan, (Anyone remember Steubenville? Lee Stranahan does- he was there defending the rapists.) Islamophobe Aaron Walker who published the Muslim hate blog, Everyone Draw Mohammed that was used by radical Muslims to recruit suicide bombers to kill Americans, and to Robert Stacy McCain who is an avowed racist who was fired by the Washington Times for being too radical.
Check out the list of Blog Bash sponsors, including Boehner, Ryan and Cantor. http://www.blogbash.org/sponsors/
The PR for their little party is being handled by the same folks who brought you Swift Boat Veterans for Truth (Remember them?) and one of their major funder is the Texas Public Policy Foundation- a far right Christian fundamentalist think tank with ties to the Koch brothers.
Their award ceremony is Thursday, March 14th at 7pm at Bobby McKeys Piano Bar at the National Harbor in Oxon Hill, MD. (That's right- not at the Gaylord- CPAC didn't sponsor the event) and as of this moment, several big name Republicans are possibly showing up...

(7,875 posts)It's growing legs as we speak, though- a little bird told me there are going to be some Occupy people as well as other groups picketing the venue. Another source is saying that this event has drawn the interest of several local and federal law enforcement agencies, due to the shadiness of the characters involved- Wouldn't be surprised to see the pols abandoning ship in the next few hours...
