Occupy Sydney endures its 20th raid
From: https://www.facebook.com/occupysydney/posts/439183156191109
Raid #20 update: @cityofsydney used multiple vehicles and about 15 Staff to secure one water purifier ( they must have something against the public having access to FREE CLEAN WATER ) 1 table and one pot. Voters and Ratepayers in City of Sydney might rightly choose to question the cost of this deployment of assets given the demonstrable effectiveness of their strategy.
Another Victory for our Occupiers.
A Victory for the Homeless
A Victory against systemic bullying.
A Victory for Free Speech.
A Victory over the Ivory Tower dwellers whose belligerence is a major obstacle on the path to commUNITY building.
Gee.. No wonder more and more of the public and police are supporting us.
Occupiers are now rebuilding and regrouping...coffee available very soon.
None of this is possible without the continued support of the public. Thank you...without you there is just a dream
Some back-story (from October 3rd):
Occupy continues to defy
Occupy Sydney has announced it will mark its second anniversary in Martin Place with a day of music, speeches, solar cooking demonstrations and free food.
The group will celebrate two years in the heart of Sydneys financial district on Saturday, October 12 the closest Saturday to the two-year anniversary on October 15.
Occupy Sydney participant Lance Priestley said the event would highlight the movements work feeding the homeless, which continues around the clock despite ongoing raids by the City of Sydney Council to confiscate food and equipment.
Theyve raided us 18 times, with the latest being last Friday, he said.
Mr Priestley said that rather than succumb, Occupy was holding firm.
Were very fortunate to have lots of people assisting us, he said. For example, a bakery is doing a special 3pm bake for us daily they are just outraged at what the Council is doing. So if we get our bread taken off us in the morning, weve got new bread by the afternoon.
