The tents are gone. So are the portable toilets.
The tiny parking lot tucked away on Paradise Road near the airport was at the center of controversy when Clark County officials allowed Occupy Las Vegas protesters to camp there.
They called it Area 99. It was a place for supporters in the movement to voice their opinions about corporate greed and influence in politics.
Then the homeless came, and the occupation site seemed to transform into an extension of social services as the protesters tried to connect the poor with resources in between camp meetings about foreclosures, unemployment and the 99 percent.

BOISE, Idaho (AP) Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter signed legislation Tuesday aimed at evicting Occupy Boise protesters who have been camped out on state land near the Capitol for the last four months, and protesters quickly asked a federal judge to keep them from being ousted.
The legislation gives the protesters until 5 p.m. Monday to pack up their encampment and leave the grounds surrounding the old Ada County Courthouse. The state Department of Administration, which is responsible for the property, delivered the eviction notice to protesters Tuesday afternoon.
Members of the protest group filed an emergency motion in federal court for a temporary restraining order, and U.S. District Judge Lynn Winmill scheduled a hearing for Friday.
The local offshoot of the Occupy Wall Street movement, which has railed against income inequality as well as corporate and political corruption, set up their tents in November, and lawmakers have been working to dispatch them since arriving in Boise in January.

Anyone else have late breaking Occupy news?

(75,480 posts)making references to it in dramatic shows. Most recently on "The Good Wife" a judge who was joining the protestors during his lunch break gets pepper sprayed. He weeps during the proceedings because of it. I think they are trying to get the word out for the occupiers where the media won't.
