Activists Seek Substantial Changes in the CRB

June 12, 2015 (San Diego) During a rare evening hearing on June 11, the Charter Review Committee heard from activists and their views of the Civilian Review Board (CRB). What was very significant is that what they propose was not opposed by anybody who spoke.

Stephanie Jennings and Martha Sullivan of Women Occupy San Diego gave a joint presentation to the city, in the name of a large coalition. Among the organization who seek a change in the CRB are United Against Police Terror, San Diego, Black Student Justice Coalition, ACLU, Activist San Diego, Black and Brown Lives Matter coalition, the National Lawyers Guild, San Diego Coalition for Peace and Justice, San Diego Socialist Campaign, Women Occupy San Diego, and the women’s international league for Peace and Freedom.

This is a broad activist coalition in the city.

Jennings started by reminding the members of the Charter Review Commission, Council Members Chris Cate, Mark Kersey and Council President Sherri Lightner of very recent history. Council Member Marti Emerald was not present.
