(8,546 posts)After the election hack, they prevented some special characters from appearing in post titles to prevent malicious code from being run on people's browsers.
You can use html entities to get almost anything to display in your post title. For example, use = to show an equals sign. The drawbacks are: previewing the post changes it to the actual character and then posting from the previewed page makes it disappear again (just hit the back button on your browser before clicking 'Post my reply!'), and if you should need to edit a post later then you need to manually change those special characters back into html entities.
It's up to you if the little bit of extra work is worth the effort.
