DU Community Help
Related: About this forumAm I the only one having to log in every time they open DU?
I am using Microsoft Edge and suddenly developed problems on this website and another that are both supposed to remember my computer.
I am going to try logging in with another browser and will edit if that works.
ON EDIT-Logged on using Chrome, closed DU and was remembered when I returned. I had the same result last night when I switched from Edge to Chrome.

(5,727 posts)Check the "stay logged in box" when you sign up. That should do the trick.

(14,940 posts)Sounds like your cookies are being deleted often. I know, because I use a cookie auto-delete extension and have to white-list DU and a few others.
YMMV, but deleted cookies, for WHATEVER reason, sounds like your problem.
Others have this experience?

(14,940 posts)So you might do a web search on "disappearing cookies"
In my case, it's deliberate, with exceptions.
Good luck tracking it down!!!

(30,310 posts)Disgusted. Manually telling Edge not to delete DU cookies seems to have worked. I am not looking forward to dealing with this mess.

(14,940 posts)unless it's some startup/quit thing with Edge. My wild guess is that browsers delete as little as possible unless they are privacy focused.
If you only have to do this ones, it's OK.
I *do* notice that almost always, if I have a problem, someone else has found it first. These might help.

(5,455 posts)Its a security issue....it also forces me to remember my username and password. I've known too many people who forget their passwords because they don't type them any longer. I also set browsers to delete history and cookies when I shut them down...and usually I use the "private" or "incognito" windows to be even safer.

(30,310 posts)I get a message saying to enable cookies. I have. All the sites I "fixed" manually are not working again. Chrome seems to work.
