I'm sure this is operator error, but every time I attempt to pay for a yearly membership with CC, I get directed to a foreign Paypal page. What am I doing wrong? I am using the link on DU. This is frustrating.

5. Yes, I am choosing this option and after it allows me to fill in all the blanks for my CC, it immed-

iately sends me to a foreign Pay Pal page, which I exit immediately. This is very strange.

Are you using a VPN by any chance? I'm guessing not, but that might explain why the PayPal page you're seeing is in a different language. What language is the PayPal page in?

Also, are you logged into PayPal when this happens, or are you making the payment as a guest? (From what you wrote above, it sounds like the latter.)

I'll alert Elad to this and see if he can figure it out. (FWIW, I don't think this is anything nefarious -- it's more likely to be a random PayPal quirk.)

7. Yes, I am using a VPN with an address in US.

I do not recognize the language and I didn't think to do a translate. No, I am not logged onto Paypal when I attempt this. I am using the option that is for a one time payment because I do not want to use Paypal if I don't have to. Thank you for your help.

I suspect the VPN might be causing the issue. Your best bet would be to turn off the VPN just for this transaction, but if you must use it, you could try switching to a different proxy server in a different (US) location. There’s a chance that PayPal will act squirrelly if it doesn’t like the IP address you’re connecting from.

I’ve asked Elad to check into this thread (it’s still a little early on the west coast though).

But Googling it, some people suggest clearing cookies/cache and rebooting.

12. Can you use a private window in your browser?

Existing cookies would not be shared with the site.

For me in Firefox on a Windows PC, I can right click a link to open a new private window.
