Just got a malicious pop-up from a post on DU that linked to Raw Story

Here's the link: https://www.democraticunderground.com/10143211081

This is the second time this has happened to me recently. Don't recall if the other problem was also Raw Story.

Add: Just saw another poster say they got fake virus alerts from Raw Story. (https://www.democraticunderground.com/100218800731#post3)

1. I will never knowingly open a raw story link Got cooties from them before. Also they repackage others' work.

3. I wish DU would please, please, please stop pretending that Rawstory was a news source.

I saw that "breaking news" story. It's a retweet of something a member of Congress said. Rawstory has elevated it to the level of the Hindenburg crashing into the Titanic.

It's clickbait. It's clickbait that appeals to some DUers, but it's still clickbait.

and keep in mind, please, FAKE and MALICIOUS are NOT synonymous.

malicious = intending or intended to do harm.

but I go there because they have the latest breaking news. The pop ups and whatever else is very annoying that's why I'm in and out.

Sometimes I reboot my computer after I go there.

As far as their content, it isn't Pulitzer prize stuff but it's way better than the right wing rags that get cited here, like the Hill. The Hill that traitor John Solomon was with and who Jonathan Turley still writes for.

Raw Story is pretty far left IMO.

which they've stolen from someone else and present as their own work. Along the way, they remove the author's name, so that the person who did the actual work gets no attribution.

I NEVER click open ANY links in posts. Only takes one mistake to learn that lesson. I prefer posts that offer content not clicks.

With windows; I open the RUN window & type MRT to access the tool & then choose between Quick or full-- full takes a while .. a good scan though. I use maybe once a week or 10/12 days, depending how paranoid i am

I just wonder if anything can be done. There are lots of sites that give off fake alerts like that.
