Question for Medicare Part D. Does anyone know of a plan that covers

brand name drugs -- not just generic?

I take a couple prescriptions as a brand name, because I have an inflammatory reaction to the different filler used in the generics. I understand that a small number of insurers do cover brand name drugs, so I'm hoping to find one.

Yes. All the Part D plans say the same thing as to drug prices. pnwmom Nov 2023 #4

Too young for Medicare, but I have had some luck with good Rx app. Have a friend who is on ACA plan and uses good Rx all the time.

Might be worth checking out for the specific drugs you need.

You may also want to check for a different generic supplier.

Good luck.

was expressed by customer service the last time I called one. I had called to ask about their product after another generic had caused intestinal bleeding. They said that their generic was safe for me at the time, but they reserved the right to change their inactive ingredients at any time without notice. This, it turns out, is a right all generic manufacturers have. They can change the filler to whatever works that they can get a good price on at the time.

Another generic manufacturer said they didn't purposely add the ingredient I react to, but they had no control over how the ingredients were handled in the overseas factories they came from, so they couldn't rule out contamination.

Even if you found one that was OK, it might not be OK the next time.

I hope you find something that helps with the name brand cost then.

www.mymedicare.gov

Just enter the names and strengths of all your drugs, and your location, and it will give you a list of insurers along with the costs.

And it records all your drugs so you don't need to re-enter everything next year, just the changes.

Good luck

The combination of the meds I take runs about $6,000 a year, and no plan has a deductible more than $600.

And yet all of them say I won't reach the deductible over the course of the year.

I read somewhere that only about 15% of Part D plans cover brand names, so I've been trying unsuccessfully to figure out which they are.
