Trump's "Second Amendment People" Advisor and Inspiration
Larry Pratt: If Conservatives Lose The Supreme Court, We May 'Have To Resort To The Bullet Box'Pratt was interviewing Robert Knight, a senior fellow at the American Civil Rights Union, who warned that if a liberal Democrat is elected president, then there goes the Supreme Court, it could be two, three, four justices, and I think the Second Amendment would be in great peril if that happens.
Pratt responded that if such a court interprets the Constitution in ways that conservatives dont like, they may have to restore proper constitutional balance through the bullet box:
And at that point, we would have to come to an understanding, which weve been sort of taught, its been taught out of us, that the courts do not have the last word on what the Constitution is. They decide particular cases, they dont make law. Their decisions, unlike the Roe v. Wade usurpation, dont extend to the whole of society, theyre not supposed to. And we may have to reassert that proper constitutional balance, and it may not be pretty. So, Id much rather have an election where we solve this matter at the ballot box than have to resort to the bullet box.

This is the real right-wing gun lobby, and a large part of Donald Trump's "think tank." Like Trump, these people are both deranged and dangerous. Apologists for this anti-American rubbish are just as guilty of sedition (if not treason) as the right-wing gun nuts who feed on their admiration.

(21,086 posts)I don't believe these people are conservatives. They say they are one thing but what they do advocates anarchy, "a state of disorder due to absence or nonrecognition of authority".
The Rule of Law essentially has 5 principles:
The scholar Rachel Kleinfeld Belton identifies five:
1. a government bound by and ruled by law;
2. equality before the law;
3. the establishment of law and order;
4. the efficient and predictable application of justice; and
5. the protection of human rights.

(6,641 posts)where none exists all because of a 5-4 conservative SCOTUS decision (Heller). These Second Amendment absolutists are a cult of obsessed worshipers of a faux religion based on death and destruction, and try to convince themselves that they are "patriots" defending the Constitution.

I don't care if people have guns, I don't think most Americans do. BUT, I do care that crazy people easily obtain high powered weaponry to shot the shit out of kids in schools, people praying, college students in class and so on. New guns, new situations, new limits on the right people at the right time. We simply can't afford not to look hard at this issue.

I'm about tempted to see their guns taken away and sending them to "camps."
No, not really, but they're mentally SCREWED UP!

The most charitable interpretation here was that Angle was floating armed insurrection -- or "Second Amendment remedies" -- as a defensible response if electoral politics fails to change where things are headed under the current regime.

This appears to be a prevalent theme in Republican right-wing politics: "If things don't go our way, it is a result of Liberal government tyranny, and the Second Amendment gives us the right to armed insurrection." History is not on their side as evidenced by the last attempt at this madness.

(1,265 posts)...I'd be deeply offended by Donald Trump's broad hint that I and like-minded people could be tapped as hit men to undo an election with an outcome he didn't like. I might even go so far as to say that this kind of talk is a much greater threat to 2A rights than any modest attempt to regulate gun ownership and use. I wouldn't be shy about telling people that.
