Hedge Fund Divestment
For those who are near NY. But even if you don't live in New York, contacting the company that holds your 401K or any investments you may have to tell them you want to divest from gun companies is a way you can act to express your opposition to gun violence.

(53,661 posts)We do know about the ALEC Stand Your Gun laws pushed by Koch, etc. But that's not direct enough, even though we have a thread with their website now posting the content of ALEC written bills. So many pieces of legislation don't mention who the contracts will go to in deals, like charter schools. I have no idea who can help with this. Although grantcart is probably be the best in researching as he did just before the election on that polling firm.

And I'm wondering if the ALEC online shows any sponsors. Since you mentioned NYC you may know about the hedge fund world. I would not begin to know how to look this up and the databases may be pay only?
Certainly Occupy or Anonymous has the capability of finding out who is funding them. Remember when they did the chart on 'who owns everything' on the planet, all of those global corporations -- they have the capability.
But FOIA's might help do this.

(54,798 posts)I happen to have Occupy the NRA on Facebook and the notice for the protest came across my news feed. I live in MN. I'll look at the link tomorrow.
Thanks!
