Time to put our money where our mouths are. It's all they understand.
Contribute whatever you can to organizations working to prevent gun violence. I called and emailed my red state Senators to absolutely no avail. It's a waste of time. Maybe these organizations can combine my money with that from like minded folks and move the issue that way. I will not spend any more time pleading with Senators Isakson and Chambliss.
On edit:
I did email them one last time tonight to say: Shame on you for taking the side of gun manufacturers and the NRA instead of having the courage to do the right thing for the common good.
Now, I'm done with them.......

(25,904 posts)is that the Gun Lobby's pass on money to those so-called elected officials. You're right - money is the key. We have to pay them (or bribe them) to vote the way we - the American People - want. That's a sad commentary on our government and our elected officials. The only thing these Senators care about is getting re-elected - their job.
It is a dirty shame - but I don't think any of those Senators that voted this down have any shame. They are blatant liars. They are the takers in this country.
We can do two things: 1. Vote them out of office - make them lose their job - pay the consequences for their nay vote today.
or
2. If it takes money to get them to vote the way we want - let's raise the money. If the 90% of us that want background checks and good gun legislation passed - let's all contribute just $1.00 to a fund. Then let's be very up front and dangle the dollars in front of them to vote the way we want them to. After all that's all that they respond to.
After the vote - expose them for want they are - hypocrites.

(11,464 posts)They will primary and they will back the anti-NRA candidates in enough races.
They need the support.
The money to do it on a wide scale.
And they would welcome more money.
