Father accidentally shoots 13 month old

"It’s in Tennessee.

Kevin Sayre, who is 26 years old, was field stripping his two Glock pistols – because you can’t eat just one – in his apartment and accidentally shot his 13 month old daughter through the chest.

The baby was flown to a children’s hospital and is expected to survive. She is in critical but stable condition. The bullet traveled through the child’s chest and through a recliner before coming to rest in a diaper bag, a neighbor told WSMV.

Kevin Sayre, the new face of the NRA."

More:

A Tullahoma, Tenn., father is behind bars after a gun he was cleaning discharged and struck his 13-month-old daughter in the chest, authorities say.

Tullahoma Police Department Investigations Lt. Jason Ferrell said the baby’s father, 26-year-old Kevin Sayre, is being held in the Nashville Metro Jail on a charge of aggravated assault.

The gunshot left the baby, whose name has not been released, in critical but stable condition at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt in Nashville, Ferrell said.

The incident happened late Sunday night.

Sheriff’s Office officials said Sayre is being held on $20,000 bond and faces an initial hearing in Coffee County General Sessions Court on Thursday.http://www.timesfreepress.com/news/2013/may/14/tullahoma-man-jailed-after-13-month-old-daughter-s/

Because if all we do is take away his glocks, he'll just do something else stupid with some other object.

Take away and destroy his glocks and take away his freedom.

I don't give a damn if he represents the 0.0001% or (more likely closer to the 5 or 10%) of gun owners.

He underscores how outrageous our gun policies are and what a blight on society is the NRA and its lobbying efforts.

Ya' can't outlaw stupid but ya' can legislate mandatory safety classes, 100% background checks and confiscate guns that injure through negligence.

Why do these characters insist on working on loaded guns?

Are they too paranoid to remove the bullets when cleaning them?

Or are they too lazy?

there are sane liberals here in Tennessee. We may be as hard to find as hunting morels or snipe, but we are here.

Some here have speculated that it was deliberate. Given that he was in the military and has to know how to properly handle a gun, the police should have arrested him.

That's one of the reasons I went with an M&P over the Glocks when I bought my first EDC.

Still doesn't excuse the tatted up goon for not clearing the chamber, but I must say I've never been comfortable with the glock takedown. (I did buy a G20 last year)

Anytime I dry fire a firearm in the house (unless using snap caps) I will plant the barrel into bed or couch arm (just don't knock it out of battery) before I pull the trigger.
