FAIRFAX, VA—Saying that he embodies the organization’s core values and beliefs, members of the National Rifle Association elected Aurora, CO mass shooter James Holmes as their new president Monday, sources confirmed. “Mr. Holmes is not only a powerful symbol and advocate of Second Amendment rights, but he’s also a high-profile gun owner himself,” said NRA member Tyler Paulson, 46, who claimed he could think of no one better to lead the group through its current challenges than the man who shot and killed 12 people in a Colorado movie theater. “The fact is, Mr. Holmes isn’t afraid to stand up for what he believes in. We support James Holmes 100 percent and are excited to see where he decides to lead us going forward.” At press time, Holmes and NRA Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre were spotted laughing with one another and shaking hands during Holmes’ visiting hours.

ok, not a 'toon, but...

The Onion’s Tips For Passing Gun Control Legislation

Write gun control legislation. Pass gun control legislation.

Before voting on gun control bill, try, if you can, to remember any recent examples in which guns have been used to kill innocent people.

Acknowledge that it’s going to be hard to buck the pressure of the high-powered gun lobby, but not that fucking hard, dumbass.

Consider if overwhelming public support for a particular measure is something you want to be associated with or not.

Inform your decision by researching whether guns are good or bad when placed in the wrong hands.

Muster everything that’s left in your black, desiccated heart to do something that might actually be of service to someone other than yourself.

Carefully assess the other side of the argument wherein mentally unstable people can buy weapons at a gun show with no problem whatsoever, and then realize there is no other side of this argument.

Put on your stupid little suit, run a comb through your greasy hair, go to the U.S Capitol building, pick up your fancy little gold pen, and pass a fucking gun control bill.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/12626770
NEW DISCOVERY: First Half of Second Amendment

“I was unaware there was a first half to the second amendment,” said Wayne LaPierre, NRA Vice President. “I always just assumed it only read, “the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.” I had no idea that it meant to arm the standing state militias at the time. It apparently also says, “A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state..” Well I guess a well regulated militia is no longer necessary seeing as we have the United States Military, and the National Guard at the ready to protect us. I’m going to have to rethink everything. Now, I’m just going to have to be honest with my true intentions and can no longer use the second amendment as my reason for so many guns in the U.S. Now, I’ll just to say it’s because I’m in deep with the gun manufacturers and am trying to make as much money as possible. Dang it! This is going to take a lot of PR to overcome.”

This new discovery comes a time of great debate over the pursuit seemingly limitless firearm ownership. People have now seen the first half of the second amendment states that if federally regulated militias are necessary, they may be fully armed. However, state militias are no longer necessary due to the United States military. It seems the second half of the second amendment was to arm the first half of the second amendment. Perhaps the second amendment may really need to be updated to meet current requirements and standards of necessary ownership. It definitely puts a kink in the NRA’s plan of having an “every man, woman, and child for themselves mentality” like that of the Wild West or Prehistoric times before civilization taught us we work better in tribes (communities).

Free Wood Post will keep you updated as news of this discovery ripples throughout the nation.

The GOP frontrunner for the 2016 Presidential campaign has already taken up the role of Republican Party Leader. Israel's Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu not only addressed his GOP Congress, but also seems to be an ideal GOP candidate: He loves to bomb the Middle East, he will do anything to win an election, and enjoys meddling in other countries affairs!

105. TO SOME DEGREE,
Sun Oct 4, 2015, 12:34 AM

both "Second Amendment rights" and mental health are red herrings. Think instead on why so many of us are so alienated from ANY sense of community. We are incessantly propagandized toward the consumer culture and "dog eat dog" every man for himself, divisive Capitalist ideal. If it doesn't have a price, it has no value. Restoring a sense of community, and our commonality is our only chance to survive.
When I was in Primary and High School, 85%+ of the fish and meat that we ate, came from nearby woods and streams. Not from sport, I grew up on Blind Aid and Welfare, in rural Louisiana. So to say I am conflicted about "Gun Control" is putting it mildly. By the way, I no longer live in Louisiana, as it became apparent to me early on that willful ignorance was the preferred lifestyle.

other than VERY indirectly, because you mentioned being conflicted about gun control in your second paragraph. You might want to think about self-deleting and re-posting where you originally meant to.
