93 year old homeowner with a gun shot dead by police officer
" A small town Texas police officer responding to an emergency call about a female with a gun has been suspended for shooting dead a 93-year-old woman in her home, authorities said on Thursday.
Hearne police officer Stephen Stem fatally shot Pearlie Golden, who was brandishing a firearm, the Robertson County District Attorney's Office said in a statement."

So many stories I've read over time where had people not had a gun, they'd be alive today.
And from the little info provided by the article, it sure does look like the police officer is a trigger happy type and maybe shouldn't be a officer.

(13,610 posts)I was living in a house rented by my sister. The owner of the home, a 70 yo woman got drunk one day, entered the house with a gun, raging about hating all men and was going to kill me dead. I met her in the stairwell of the home and just talked softly to her for 30 minutes or so. She went back and forth between killing me, or all men, or herself, but after a while we sat down together in that stairwell, she put down the gun and just cried. We went downstairs finally, my sister got the gun and hid it, but we all just sat and talked for a very long time and she was fine. She never asked for the gun back and she never bothered anyone afterward. We became friends.
She died 2 years later of normal causes and never hurt anyone.
What's wrong with cowardly people who can't just help? What's wrong with confronting danger in your life sometimes to stop the rage? The more cops are scared of people, the more people will be scared of the cops... and needless killings will just go on and on, and on...
