(6,641 posts)too strong an emotion for why she and Mark are gun owners. Gun nuts "love" guns, but responsible gun owners handle and store them responsibly, which is implied in the name of their organization: Americans For Responsible Solutions. Responsibility is legislated for other potentially dangerous consumer products (cars, chemicals, explosives, lawnmowers, etc.) but thanks to the NRA/ILA, Koch Brothers (ALEC), gun laws and product oversight are lax or non-existent.
With the exception of assault weapons, none of the major gun control organizations wants to ban or confiscate American's guns. The right-wing gun lobby and its puppet gun nuts use the lie that Democrats want to take away guns as a marketing tool to sell more guns to those gullible enough to believe the manufactured fear.

(6,641 posts)CLARKESVILLE, Ga. (AP) A former police officer fatally shot at least one person and wounded a sheriff and a deputy in an ambush Sunday at a home in northeastern Georgia, authorities said.
The suspect and another man also died, officials told news outlets. It was unclear whether the suspect shot himself or was killed by officers.
The officers were responding to a domestic violence incident around 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the home outside Clarkesville, Habersham County officials said in a statement. They found a woman dead in the garage, Rusty Andrews of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation told WSB-TV (http://bit.ly/1a2mE4e).
Officers went into the house to check for other victims, and "it appears they were ambushed," Andrews said.
Just another day in Georgia, the "guns everywhere" state where problems are solved the old fashioned way -- with a gun.
