If not us, who? If not now, when?

Yesterday a commercial aircraft fell from the sky killing all 150 people on board. It was, and is, a truly terrible tragedy. But consider this; that many people die from gunfire in the United States every 48 hours and almost twice as many are non-fatally injured by guns every single day.

It is as if a fully loaded 747 Jumbo Jet colliding with a fully loaded corporate jet every week and if we controlled aircraft the way we control guns in America that would probably happen.

While mass killings like commercial aircraft crashes are indeed horrific they are very small compared to the daily carnage of one life at a time being taken with guns.

A child finds a gun, a jilted lover takes revenge, a convicted violent felon uses a gun committing a crime, a road rage incident ends in gunfire, a depressed teen commits suicide and a Veteran with PTSD ends his life. Just another day in America.

When will we as a nation recognize these daily tragedies and take action?
