Fun with google.
Search road rage + gun? I got to 42 separate incidents in the month of March before I lost count and didn't feel like starting over. There's probably twice that number.
How about a search on bar + gun? Pretty much the same result.
Wife + gun? Yeah, 'bout what you'd expect except I was surprised how many police were in the headline. Girlfriend + gun is even worse.
Accident + shooting? Had to change the wording 'cause about a third of the results were accident related instead to gun related. Too many to count. Lots involving children. Amazing how many adults shoot children "by accident".
Toddler + gun? Page after page of results.
Thirty thousand people each year die and more than 100,000 injured badly enough to be treated in hospital by guns.
When are we going to learn?

(1,884 posts)Most of us already have. It is the noisy <30% collectively, with enough money to buy their own congress critters, that are the real problem causing the high shooting death toll in this country.
Very few people actually need to be carrying their guns in public.

(14,559 posts)the carrier must show a clear need or reason for carrying. Not here. The NRA over the last 55 years has promoted "shall issue" over "may issue" taking local law enforcement, who may know the temperament of the applicant, out of the decision making process.

(1,884 posts)I would think they would be against it, as they would be in more danger from an overarmed public, than an mostly unarmed one. Good guys or not, as they are hard to tell apart by looking.

(14,559 posts)In my town the local constabulary would really like to have a hand in issuing but there are a lot of nut bars out there attracted to the police. Ask anyone in Ferguson
