Domestic violence legislation spreading

I posted here about legislation to ban gun ownership from convicted domestic abusers: http://www.democraticunderground.com/12628739

There is a bill nearly identical to Vermont's pending in SC and now in Maine and in a variety of other states. These states already have prohibitions on gun purchases by convicted domestic abusers: Colorado, Delaware, District of Columbia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington and West Virginia.

If your state isn't listed here please call your representative and ask why wife beaters still have access to guns.

One would think that taking guns out of potentially violent emotional situations would be a no-brainer, yet the NRA and a host of other gun rights organizations fight this legislation tooth and nail.
