Just a few numbers.

As of April 28 there have been 14,788 gun incidents resulting in death or injury in 2015.

189 children 0-11 killed or injured.

708 teens 12-17 killed or injured.

632 "accidental" shootings.

In the last 72 hours there have been 262 gun related incidents ranging from shots fired to mass murder.

Of all this mayhem guns were used defensively less than 3% of the time.

We are only 118 days into 2015.

What is the definition of DGU?

Does it require a shot fired, an attacker struck, or an attacker killed? Furthermore, how is the data collected?

Defensive Use The reported use of force with a firearm to protect and/or defend one's self or family. Only verified incidents are reported.

Okay. But what about if the threat of force is used? Does that not count as defensive gun use?
