A federal judge on Thursday threw out a gun-lobby lawsuit challenging Washingtons voter-approved Initiative 594, which requires criminal background checks for those purchasing firearms at gun shows or online.
In his order dismissing the suit, U.S. District Court Judge Benjamin Settle wrote that the plaintiffs alleged threat of prosecution is not genuine and that because Plaintiffs have failed to show a genuine or imminent threat of prosecution, they do not have standing to bring this challenge.
It is my job to stand up for and protect the will of the voters, said Attorney General Bob Ferguson, who defended I-594. I am proud of the work my office has done in this case to defend the challenge to I-594.
I594 passed by 60% and the poor tender feelings of the gunholics were hurt so they sued. They made up all kinds of scenarios like "what if I drop my gun and somebody else picks it up for me? Is that an unlawful transfer?" You know, the same kind of lameass extreme examples that they use to justify convicted wife beaters keeping their guns, "what if my girlfriend just said I beat her but I really didn't? Will I still lose my gun?"
